High Expectations

The main reason why Britain wanted to start a trade relationship with the thirteen colonies was to get more gold, silver and other precious stones that was in high demand during the time when the New Land was discovered. Even with the high hopes and expectations that the New Land would produce enough gold, silver, and precious stones that Britain wanted along with the rest of Europe, still had trade with each other by the thirteen colonies having agricultural goods like tobacco, rice,silk, wheat, bread, corn, timber, ships, and fisheries that Britain was in need of and Britain having manufactured goods like textiles and leather that the thirteen colonies were needing. Each of the thirteen colonies had a some type of specialized goods that they produced. Virginia had produced tobacco and silk. It also had rice and cotton. South Carolina had a planter named Thomas Smith who was the first person to grow rice outside of Madagascar. New England had wheat, corn, and fisheries that contained cod and other edible fish. Delaware had silk. New York had bread. Pennsylvania had bread and silk like New York and the silk like Virginia. New Jersey also contained bread. Delaware had silk. The North Carolina colony produced fish, timber, and had plantations. The Maine colony produced fur. Massachusett's goods were fish, corn, and livestock. Maryland colony produced tobacco, cotton, and rice. The Maryland colony also had plantations for slaves to work on. New Hampshire colony produced agricultural goods suchas fish, lumber, furs, salt, and livestock. The Georgia colony had arigultural goods such as rice and silk. Georgia also had plantations that slaves would work on like Maryland. Connecticut exported fish to Britain. The final colony, Rhode Island, exported agricultural goods such as rum, molasses, and had slaves to work on different plantations. The thirteen colonies were seperated into three sections such as the South,, Middle, and New England.
